Overview: Offenham Church of England First School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The school sets high expectations for pupils' achievement and behaviour, and pupils achieve well. The school is a safe and positive environment for pupils, with a strong culture of safety and vigilance.

Strengths:

• The school has adopted an ambitious curriculum for its pupils, prioritising language and communication from the start in the early years.
• Teachers have the subject knowledge they need to teach the majority of subjects well, and present subject matter clearly and engage most pupils well in their learning.
• The school provides a wide range of activities and opportunities for pupils, including choir club, music ensemble, art and sports clubs, and visits to a synagogue, mosque, and the local church.

Areas to improve:

• Teachers' checks on learning do not always flag when pupils are ready for more challenging reasoning activity in mathematics, which means that pupils do not get enough opportunities to develop reasoning skills in mathematics.
• The school has not ensured that staff have the knowledge and expertise to adapt their approaches for pupils with SEND, which means that the planned support is not consistently delivered the way the school intends.
