Overview: Pupils enjoy coming to school, make good friends, and like learning. The school provides a calm and purposeful learning environment, and pupils behave respectfully towards each other and staff. However, pupils do not have sufficient opportunities to deepen their knowledge and develop subject-specific skills.

Strengths:

• Pupils learn and recall key facts in a range of subjects.
• The school has established its approaches to teaching early reading and phonics, effectively adapting the chosen scheme in the early years to accommodate children learning in Yiddish and in English.
• The school has developed the provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), with staff identifying swiftly when pupils need support and strong communications between staff teams, parents, and external specialists.

Areas to improve:

• Teachers' checking of pupils' learning is not precise, and gaps in individual pupil's learning are not identified and resolved swiftly.
• Teachers' subject knowledge in the secular curriculum is not consistently strong, limiting pupils' application of their learning and understanding of complex subject-specific ideas.
• The school does not have firmly embedded routines in the primary phase classes to encourage pupils' enjoyment of and interest in reading, and pupils do not have frequent opportunities to read a wide range of books.

Safeguarding: The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
