Pinc College

Overview

Pinc College is an independent specialist college for neurodiverse young people aged 16 to 25, delivering art and digital art curricula across multiple sites. The inspection judged the overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour, personal development, and leadership as ‘Good’, noting that students enjoy studying in unique cultural environments.

Strengths

• Students benefit from a “supportive and respectful environment” that helps them build confidence and self-esteem.
• Staff devise “individualised curriculums” based on students’ interests and long-term goals, using expertise in working with those with EHC plans.
• Teachers use “questioning and feedback effectively” to help students identify knowledge gaps and improve their artistic skills.
• Students produce “high-quality work” which they exhibit in galleries, and they can confidently explain their creative processes.
• A personal development curriculum equips learners with skills for “independent, safe and healthy lives,” including online safety and self-advocacy.

Areas to improve

• Ensure that the quality of education is consistently good at all centres of learning.
• Make sure that action taken to improve achievement rates for all qualifications is successful and sustainable.
• Increase students’ attendance, as low levels for some prevent full participation in learning.

Safeguarding

The report states that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective,” noting that staff create a culture where students feel safe and know who to speak to if worried.
