Primate Dixon Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure” parents of the quality of education provided. The report notes the school is a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• The learning environment is described as “stimulating, thoughtfully presented and enhanced by attractive displays of the children’s own work.”
• Children met by inspectors were “welcoming and keen to talk about their school and aspects of their learning.”
• Year 6 pupils spoke positively about their learning, highlighting enjoyment of art and physical education.
• Children reported having “good opportunities to develop their leadership skills” through the School Council and as ‘playground buddies.’
• Pupils articulated the school’s vision and described a “culture of inclusion which ensures they always feel supported and cared for.”

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement, as the ETI was “unable to evaluate” outcomes, provision, or leadership due to the lack of cooperation.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” and while children confirmed they feel safe and know what to do with concerns, the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements.”
