Queen Elizabeth II Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided.” The report notes the school is a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils spoke “very positively about the enjoyable learning experiences in music, art and French lessons.”
• Children reported a “friendly family ethos in the school” and enjoyment of after-school activities.
• “Children’s creative artwork is presented attractively on the corridor displays.”
• Pupils stated they “feel safe in the school” and know how to report safety concerns.

Areas to improve

• The school must “develop further the critical incident policy and procedures and complete any associated risk assessment procedures.”
• The boundary fence around the grass play area is “too low and may not fully secure controlled access to the school site.”

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was unable to fully evaluate their outworking due to the industrial action.
