Strengths

• Staff work closely with families and feeder schools to understand individual needs, adapting learning and resources “skilfully” to support pupils.
• The curriculum is well-structured, with subject leaders ensuring consistency in how teachers help pupils “build their knowledge over time.”
• Reading is a high priority, with staff skilled at adapting approaches to help pupils who joined unable to read confidently.
• Attendance is “exceptional,” supported by close collaboration with educational welfare and children’s services.
• The school provides a “caring and supportive pastoral, well-being and nurture team” to help pupils develop strategies for managing emotions and self-esteem.

Areas to improve

• In some lessons, staff do not check effectively that pupils understand intended learning, meaning some are “less well prepared for the next steps of their learning than they could be.”
• The school should ensure all staff are skilled in and aware of assessment approaches, implementing them “consistently well” to monitor understanding.
