St Brigid's Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted during industrial action, with most teachers refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the report is based on documentation and limited evidence, meaning the ETI could not evaluate classroom teaching or fully assure stakeholders of the quality of education.

Strengths

• The school demonstrates a "well-embedded and rigorous culture of self-evaluation" which informs effective interventions for diverse needs.
• Senior leadership and coordinators "monitor and evaluate effectively all aspects of the provision" and the impact on learning.
• Staff development has improved the reading culture, with the most able Year 7 pupils reading "fluently and maturely".
• Children produce "recount writing of a high quality" that becomes increasingly sophisticated across year groups.

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of learning and teaching within classrooms due to non-cooperation.
• The inspection could not fully evaluate the outworking of safeguarding arrangements because of the industrial action.

Safeguarding

The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements reflect Department of Education guidance and children reported feeling safe, but the ETI was unable to fully evaluate the practical implementation of these measures.
