St Eoghan's Primary School

Overview

The inspection occurred during industrial action where teachers did not cooperate, preventing a full evaluation of teaching and learning. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure” parents of the quality of education provided. Despite this limitation, questionnaire responses from parents and staff were “wholly positive,” and senior leadership cooperated fully with the inspection process.

Strengths

• Parents and staff expressed “very high levels of satisfaction” and affirmed confidence in the staff’s ability to provide high-quality care.
• Senior and middle leaders demonstrated a “clear strategic vision” supported by “well-embedded self-evaluation processes.”
• The school development plan is described as “good quality,” with “well-defined targets” aligned to whole-school priorities.
• Children reported feeling safe, valued the shared education partnership, and benefited from the PATHS programme for emotional well-being.
• Governors are “very knowledgeable” about the school and offer appropriate challenge and support to the principal.

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no specific areas for improvement, as the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully” outcomes, provision, and leadership effectiveness due to the industrial action.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was unable to fully evaluate their outworking due to the strike action.
