St Ita's Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers and leadership did not cooperate with the evaluation of education quality. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure the quality of education” being provided. The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils reported a “wide range of learning and extra-curricular experiences” and appreciation for support from staff.
• Children discussed opportunities to take on roles of responsibility, such as being “digital leaders” and “eco-leaders.”
• Governors outlined their “pro-active role” in safeguarding and child-protection matters across the school community.
• Children report they “feel safe in the school” and are “very secure in their knowledge about how to keep safe online.”

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate outcomes for learners, quality of provision, or leadership and management due to non-cooperation.
• The report states the ETI was unable to evaluate fully the effectiveness of strategic leadership, governance, and action to promote improvement.
• The school must address the lack of cooperation that prevented a full assessment of educational standards.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was unable to evaluate fully the outworking of these arrangements due to the industrial action.
