St Patrick's Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.”

Strengths

• Year 7 children “read fluently and expressively” and speak “knowledgeably” about mathematics.
• Year 6 pupils are “welcoming and respectful” and enjoy “extracurricular activities.”
• Foundation stage assessments are “very thoroughly investigated” with “highly insightful early interventions.”
• The school development plan is “well-constructed” with “well-defined priorities.”
• Governors are “actively involved” and collaborate effectively with the principal.

Areas to improve

• Some aspects of the school development plan “need to be more evaluative.”
• The ETI was unable to fully evaluate outcomes, provision, leadership, and safeguarding due to non-cooperation.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education” and children feel safe, though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements.”
