St Patrick's Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly constrained by industrial action, with teachers refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided” and assigns no performance levels for outcomes, provision, or leadership.

Strengths

• A group of Year 6 children spoke “very enthusiastically about their learning experiences” and opportunities for responsibility.
• Children reported that they “feel safe and happy in school” and know whom to approach with concerns.
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate outcomes, quality of provision, or leadership due to the lack of cooperation.
• The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”
• Health and safety issues include “no disability access control at the front entrance” and “no protection from inclement weather” between buildings.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
