St Saviours Infant Church School

Overview

St Saviour’s Infant Church School is described as a "warm and welcoming place to learn" where pupils feel safe, valued, and part of "one family." The inspection judged the school to be "Good" overall, highlighting strong relationships, effective support for pupils with special educational needs, and a curriculum that prioritises reading and social well-being.

Strengths

• Pupils enjoy school, behave well, and develop confidence through responsible roles such as "school councillors" and "OPAL ambassadors."
• Leaders prioritise reading, ensuring pupils read with "accuracy and fluency" and are exposed to diverse authors and vocabulary.
• Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) "achieve well" and access the full curriculum through adapted learning and specialist support.
• The school fosters a culture of care, with staff and leaders supporting pupils’ "social and emotional well-being" and healthy relationships.
• Governors hold leaders to account effectively, and staff speak positively of professional development opportunities within the trust.

Areas to improve

• Leaders must ensure that assessment is used "consistently well in all areas of the curriculum" to prevent gaps in pupils’ knowledge in subjects where implementation is weaker.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are "effective," with leaders ensuring staff know the signs of risk, keeping thorough records, and making "well-judged decisions" to help pupils and families.
