Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure” parents of the quality of education provided.

Strengths

• Internal data indicates “most of the children... make progress and achieve as expected and above in literacy and in numeracy.”
• Year 6 pupils spoke positively about enjoying “literacy and numeracy” and valued the “educational trips provided for them.”
• Children described how they were “rewarded for positive behaviour and achievement” and felt supported by “positive working relationships.”
• Pupils expressed pride in the Eco-Committee’s work and the school being “awarded a Green Flag for the third time.”
• The school development plan is “informed by the appropriate analysis of the school’s internal data” to set improvement priorities.

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must “plan for, and manage, issues related to the sustainability of the school provision and school budget.”
• The school needs to “review access arrangements to the main site and building.”
• The “boundary fence to the front of the school needs to be reinstated.”

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education” and that children feel safe, though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
