Overview

Swiss Valley Primary School is described as a "happy, inclusive community" where most pupils develop effective literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. The report highlights that nearly all pupils behave well, show respectful attitudes, and feel safe, supported by strong leadership with a clear focus on improving learning and wellbeing.

Strengths

• Most pupils make "good progress" in their learning, including those with additional learning needs, and develop effective reading and numeracy skills.
• Teachers have "high expectations" and create a purposeful environment where pupils feel confident to ask questions and share ideas.
• Arrangements for supporting pupils with additional learning needs are "robust," with skilled staff delivering targeted interventions.
• The headteacher provides "strong, effective leadership" with a clear strategic direction, supported competently by senior leaders and the governing body.
• Pupils demonstrate positive attitudes towards their work, are "enthusiastic learners," and take pride in leadership roles and community contributions.

Areas to improve

• Improve pupils’ ability to write at length, as the "overuse of worksheets occasionally hinders pupils’ extended writing skills."
