Taughmonagh Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not co-operate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided.” The report states that “no performance level [is] available” for outcomes, provision, or leadership, and the school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• Year 6 pupils spoke “enthusiastically about all aspects of school life.”
• Children demonstrated accurate knowledge of procedures to deal with concerns regarding their well-being and online safety.

Areas to improve

• The school has “insufficient teaching spaces to meet the children’s learning needs.”
• The ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of education, so specific improvement areas for teaching and leadership could not be identified.
