Tawhid Boys School, Tawhid Educational Trust

Overview

This is a small, friendly independent school for boys where pupils “enjoy coming” and feel safe due to warm staff relationships. The school meets independent school standards, with leaders ensuring compliance and trustees holding leaders to account effectively. Pupils achieve “very good outcomes” in core subjects, though consistency varies across the curriculum.

Strengths

• The curriculum is “broad” and taught in a “logical order” so pupils can “build on their knowledge step by step.”
• Teachers “break complex concepts down” and address learning gaps “promptly,” while pupils act readily on feedback.
• Reading is given a “high profile,” with structured support ensuring weaker readers improve accuracy and fluency.
• Pupils behave well, attendance is high, and they enjoy leadership roles and educational visits, such as a recent trip to Turkey.
• A comprehensive careers programme provides individual advice and work experience for all Year 10 pupils.

Areas to improve

• The school must fully embed revised approaches for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) to ensure support is “appropriately focused” across all subjects, as previous plans were too narrow.
• Leaders should implement suitable methods to check pupils’ understanding in personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education to address knowledge gaps in a “timely manner.”

Safeguarding

The report states that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”
