The Beech House School

Overview: The Beech House School provides a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils aged 10-18 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. Staff work closely with pupils and their families to build trust and encourage learning. Pupils make rapid progress when they attend school regularly, developing confidence and a positive attitude to learning.

Strengths:

• Staff are experienced in teaching a range of subjects and adapt the curriculum to meet individual pupils' needs.
• Pupils appreciate how staff break down learning into manageable steps and apply their learning to real-life situations.
• The school provides a range of opportunities for pupils to apply their learning outside the classroom, developing social and enterprise skills.
• Pupils learn well, take pride in their work, and are keen to show off their achievements.

Areas to improve:

• The school has not always ensured that plans to re-engage pupils in full-time provision are adapted to individual needs, hindering their progress through the curriculum.
• The school has not consistently ensured that staff have the knowledge to deliver the curriculum as intended, sometimes resulting in pupils not learning important knowledge.
