The Treehouse School

Overview

The Treehouse School is described as a welcoming environment that "nurtures their growth and celebrates their uniqueness," with pupils displaying "exemplary" behaviour and attitudes. The report highlights a strong sense of community, noting that pupils describe the school as a "happy family" and benefit from a curriculum that promotes diverse interests and personal development.

Strengths

• Pupils demonstrate "excellent attitudes to their learning" and high levels of attendance within a "purposeful and peaceful atmosphere."
• The curriculum is "ambitious and engaging," with clear sequencing in core subjects like mathematics and effective early reading instruction.
• Staff identify and support pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) "early and accurately," enabling them to succeed.
• The school promotes wider development well, including debates on current affairs and learning about healthy relationships and safety.
• Trustees provide "clear oversight" and ensure the school meets independent school standards, with premises maintained to a "high standard."

Areas to improve

• In a few subjects, the school has not identified "precisely enough the sequence in which pupils should learn the important knowledge," leading to less explicit teaching of key skills.
• Pupils’ understanding of the main religions represented in modern Britain is "varied," with some gaps in knowledge that require strengthened provision.

Safeguarding

The report states that "the arrangements for safeguarding are effective."
