Overview

This is an “infectiously happy school” where staff maintain “warm and positive relationships” with pupils, fostering an environment where children feel “safe and secure.” The report highlights a “well-designed curriculum” that draws upon the local context and ensures pupils are “well prepared for junior school.” Leadership has fostered a “united vision” with high staff morale, resulting in outstanding behaviour and personal development.

Strengths

• Pupils’ behaviour is described as “impeccable,” creating a “wonderfully calm and purposeful environment” supported by excellent pastoral care.
• The early years provision is outstanding, with children becoming “highly independent, focused learners” through activities well matched to their needs.
• Reading is central to the curriculum; staff teach phonics well and help pupils develop a “deep love of reading.”
• Personal development is of the “highest standard,” with pupils showing “great maturity” in leadership roles and contributing extensively to the community.
• Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) benefit from “high quality support” and learn the same curriculum as their classmates.

Areas to improve

• Some pupils who find writing difficult do not always receive the “appropriate adaptations” or scaffolding, causing them to struggle to write fluently and progress securely through the writing curriculum.
