Strengths

• Pupils build knowledge well through a curriculum where leaders identify "the most important knowledge" and teachers break learning into "small steps".
• Reading is prioritised from the Nursery, with carefully selected books that show a "range of cultures and backgrounds" and match pupils’ phonic knowledge.
• Staff use "well-considered strategies" to help pupils remember learning, regularly revisiting prior knowledge to deepen understanding.
• Children in the early years make "strong progress", with staff skilfully interacting to deepen understanding and increase vocabulary.
• Pupils develop a strong sense of identity and respect, with bullying happening rarely because "we care, we help, we succeed".

Areas to improve

• Leaders need to strengthen how teachers adapt learning based on pupils’ prior knowledge, as sometimes teachers do not adapt closely enough, meaning "some pupils do not learn as well as they could".

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with staff receiving up-to-date training and remaining vigilant to signs that a pupil may be at risk.
