TTD Gur School

Overview

The inspection concludes that the school "does not meet all of the independent school standards that were checked during this inspection." While leaders have made progress in addressing previous failures, particularly regarding early years provision and staff subject knowledge, significant shortcomings remain in the breadth of the curriculum and the effectiveness of teaching.

Strengths

• The school has implemented a new curriculum that now includes science, geography, history, and physical education, with pupils building knowledge "step-by-step over time."
• Schemes of work now "take into account the ages, aptitudes and needs of all pupils," including those with special educational needs.
• Teachers now demonstrate "good knowledge and understanding of the subject matter" and have access to improved classroom resources.
• A suitable curriculum for the early years foundation stage has been developed, meeting statutory requirements for children aged three and four.
• Safeguarding arrangements are robust, with an up-to-date policy, regular staff training, and appropriate recording of concerns.

Areas to improve

• The curriculum remains too narrow, as it does not offer the "broad range of subjects as required by the standards," specifically lacking technology and aesthetic and creative education.
• Teaching quality requires improvement, as lessons do not always use "effective activities" and fail to routinely identify gaps in pupils’ prior knowledge, causing some pupils to struggle.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding standards "continue to be met," noting that staff receive regular training, concerns are recorded appropriately, and referrals are made when necessary.
