Victoria Education Centre

Overview

Victoria Education Centre has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The school provides a "calm and nurturing environment" where staff have "high expectations for all pupils," enabling them to develop into "confident young people." Despite recent leadership changes, the school ensures pupils continue to receive an effective standard of education.

Strengths

• Staff understand individual needs well, providing support that builds pupil confidence and allows them to "achieve well."
• The curriculum is "well designed and sequenced" to meet needs, with a strong focus on core skills like reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Pupils are well prepared for adulthood through "impartial careers guidance," enterprise opportunities, and enrichment activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
• "Strong pastoral support" and positive relationships help pupils feel valued, trusted, and supported when struggling with emotions.
• The environment is "well resourced," offering amenities like a swimming pool and sensory room to support physical and social well-being.

Areas to improve

• Teachers must adapt learning more effectively so pupils are not "over reliant on adult support" and can take ownership of their learning.
• The trust needs to strengthen links with the school community to address parental and staff concerns regarding leadership changes and ensure issues are dealt with quickly.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
