Wester Hailes High School

Overview

The inspection team found that Wester Hailes High School maintains "positive, mutually respectful relationships" between young people and staff, which foster a "calm learning environment." The report highlights "improvements in literacy and numeracy qualifications" for students across all stages. However, evaluations for "Learning, teaching and assessment" and "Raising attainment and achievement" were both judged as "satisfactory," indicating that while progress is evident, further work is required to enhance the quality of learning experiences and outcomes for all pupils.

• Staff should adopt a "consistent approach to check their progress" across the school to better monitor development.
• Young people need to be encouraged to set "appropriately demanding targets for learning" to raise attainment for all.
