Check the area around this school
51st of 69 primary schools in Bromley we can score, 76 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Narrow the comparison to the 2,793 schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds — a tougher field — and it places 3.6/10 among them, against 5.7/10 nationally. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.
How this is worked out
| Measure | Percentile | Weight | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expected standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 63.0 · 46 | 40% | 1.85 |
| Ofsted | 52 | 35% | 1.82 |
| Higher standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 12.0 · 74 | 25% | 1.85 |
Each measure is read as a position among comparable schools, so a school in the middle of the country scores 5. Full method.

What Ofsted said about Wickham Common Primary School
Overview
Pupils enjoy attending this “warm, friendly and caring school” where they feel happy and safe. Leaders have created a “broad and ambitious curriculum” with high expectations for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. The school is part of Compass Academy Trust, and while recent changes have driven improvement, some new leadership structures are still being embedded.
Strengths
- Pupils behave very well, are “polite and courteous,” and show resilience and responsibility in their learning.
- Teachers present subject content clearly and help pupils “know and remember more over time,” particularly in core subjects.
- Staff support pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities effectively, adapting learning to ensure successful access to content.
- Pupils become “confident and fluent readers” through effective phonics teaching and well-matched books.
- There are many opportunities for pupils to develop talents in sport and music, such as through after-school clubs and choirs.
Areas to improve
- The school must develop a clear assessment framework for foundation subjects to systematically identify what pupils know and remember.
- Subject leaders need to check the impact of recent curriculum changes systematically to ensure improvements are fully embedded.
- Staff subject knowledge of the reading programme requires further development to ensure all pupils improve their reading skills effectively.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
