Overview

Wimbledon College continues to be a good school, fostering a community with the shared aim of being ‘men and women for others’. Strengths

Areas to improve

• Leaders should ensure teachers ‘systematically assess pupils’ understanding’ to identify and correct misconceptions, as some teaching lacks routine checks.
• Leaders must ensure all pupils complete ‘more demanding work’ to consolidate learning, as some currently only complete simpler tasks, limiting depth of knowledge.
• Leaders should follow through on teaching respect and tolerance, as a minority of younger pupils do not demonstrate high levels of respect, leading to some ‘name-calling and some unkind behaviour’.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with a well-trained team regularly checking that no pupil at risk is overlooked and staff reporting concerns appropriately.
