Overview

Pupils “flourish” at this school, thriving academically and emotionally within a “close-knit, family-feel” environment. The report highlights a “high-quality offer beyond the academic,” with strong leadership ensuring the school has “continued to go from strength to strength” despite significant recent changes.

Strengths

• Staff build “warm and caring relationships,” helping new arrivals settle quickly and ensuring bullying is “not an issue.”
• The curriculum is “well-sequenced” and “ambitious,” with rigorous phonics training resulting in outcomes “well above national averages.”
• Pupils demonstrate “positive attitudes to their learning,” taking pride in their work and displaying “impeccable manners.”
• Leaders have “sensitively managed change,” including a move to a new building and academy conversion, while maintaining high standards.
• There is a strong focus on personal development, with pupils engaging in leadership roles and community contributions.

Areas to improve

• Assessment systems in subjects beyond reading lack precision, as some assessments are “too restrictive for pupils to fully show what they know.”
• Teachers do not always use assessment information effectively to plan tasks that build on previous learning, preventing pupils from deepening their knowledge as extensively as they could.

Safeguarding

The report states that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”
