YNYSDDU PRIMARY SCHOOL

Overview

Ynysddu Primary School operates within a federation but maintains a distinct identity, guided by a headteacher who fosters a “safe and nurturing environment.” The report highlights a “warm and caring” setting where pupils behave exceptionally well and make strong progress in literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. However, the inspection notes a specific gap in providing sufficient opportunities for pupils to develop their Welsh oracy skills in authentic contexts.

Strengths

• Pupils, including those in the Specialist Resource Base, make “very good progress” in a supportive atmosphere.
• Learners behave “exceptionally well,” treating others with “upmost respect” and contributing maturely to discussions.
• Teachers provide “stimulating and engaging learning experiences” that help pupils concentrate and work independently.
• Pupils use staff feedback purposefully to draft and edit work, leading to successful development of writing skills.
• Staff work together purposefully to deliver a curriculum that meets the needs of most learners.

Areas to improve

• Provide pupils with more opportunities to develop their Welsh oracy skills in authentic contexts.

Safeguarding

The report states that staff strive to ensure all pupils feel safe and know where to turn if they have a problem, contributing to a secure environment.
