2 grammar schools · qualifying scores, test dates and admission criteria
Both Telford and Wrekin grammar schools (Haberdashers' Adams and Newport Girls' High School) use the West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test — the same shared GL Assessment test as the Birmingham and Walsall grammars: Two multiple-choice papers of about 50 minutes each (answers on separate electronically-marked sheets), covering English comprehension, verbal reasoning, mathematics, and non-verbal/spatial reasoning. Published weighting: 50% English/verbal reasoning, 25% non-verbal reasoning, 25% mathematics. Scores are age-standardised. One registration (early May to late June of Year 5) and one sitting (mid-September of Year 6, historically a Monday) covers every West Midlands consortium school named; each school then sets its own qualifying/priority thresholds.

Telford and Wrekin's two grammar schools — Haberdashers' Adams (boys, Newport, with boarding) and Newport Girls' High School — both use the shared West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test (the same single test used by the Birmingham and Walsall grammar schools, 19 schools in total). Register once via the West Midlands Grammar Schools portal (historically early May to late June of Year 5, 4pm deadline) and one sitting covers every participating school you name. Children living outside the area can register; Haberdashers' Adams' boarding places draw a national intake. Apply via your home LA's Common Application Form by 31 October. Check each school's oversubscription criteria — both use priority areas/catchment elements for day places.
