1 grammar school · qualifying scores, test dates and admission criteria
Wolverhampton Girls' High School uses the West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test — the shared GL Assessment test also used by the Birmingham, Walsall and Telford grammars: Two one-hour multiple-choice papers, each covering English comprehension, verbal reasoning, mathematics and non-verbal/spatial reasoning, with answers on an OMR (optical mark reading) sheet. Published weighting: 50% English/verbal reasoning, 25% non-verbal reasoning, 25% mathematics; scores are age-standardised. One registration (early May to late June of Year 5) and one September sitting covers every West Midlands consortium school named on the form.

Wolverhampton's only grammar school is Wolverhampton Girls' High School. It has NO catchment area — girls do not have to live in Wolverhampton to apply — and it uses the shared West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test (the same single test as the Birmingham, Walsall and Telford grammar schools). Register once via the West Midlands Grammar Schools portal (historically early May to late June of Year 5); one sitting covers every participating West Midlands school you name. Around 150 Year 7 places are offered each year and admission is highly competitive. Apply via your home LA's Common Application Form by 31 October; results arrive in mid-October.
