Strengths

• Children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), are happy and feel safe, learning quickly that their feelings and ideas matter.
• Staff use expert knowledge to respond well to individual needs, helping children become independent and kind.
• The curriculum is well thought out, with staff effectively using assessment strategies to check children’s grasp of content and plan next steps.
• There is a strong celebration of books and reading, with staff and children often engrossed in sharing stories and rhymes.
• The school collaborates effectively with parents and professionals to support children with SEND, who progress well through the curriculum.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure the curriculum links learning in the class for two-year-olds with that for three- and four-year-olds, so that key knowledge is built more securely in a logical order.
