Rainhill Community Nursery

Overview

Rainhill Community Nursery is described as a small setting where children have a "keen sense of belonging" and are "incredibly well prepared for their next steps." The report highlights that leaders place children’s best interests at the centre of decisions, resulting in a "highly welcoming environment" where all pupils, including those with special educational needs, thrive.

Strengths

• Children achieve highly from their starting points, securing the knowledge needed for primary school and developing an "impressive vocabulary" through high-quality interactions.
• Attendance is increasing due to a "clear and consistent strategy" that involves close partnership with parents and celebrates regular attendance.
• Staff demonstrate "expert knowledge in how young children learn," using small-group sessions and skilful adaptations to ensure gaps in learning close quickly.
• The provision for 2-year-olds is a "particular strength," with staff being "extremely attuned to children’s needs" and fostering positive relationships.
• Leaders maintain "high morale" among staff through effective professional learning and support for workload and wellbeing.

Areas to improve

• Leaders should continue to identify ways for staff to be "highly responsive, maximising opportunities to extend children’s learning and achievement."

Safeguarding

The safeguarding standards are met, with leaders establishing an "open culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility" and concerns are actively identified and managed.
