Beis Rochel d'Satmar Girls' School

Overview

The inspection concludes that the school "does not meet all of the independent school standards that were checked during this inspection." While the school has successfully addressed previous failings regarding premises maintenance and pupil welfare, it continues to fail in delivering a curriculum that promotes respect for protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010.

Strengths

• The school "meets the previously unmet standards" regarding the welfare, health, and safety of pupils, with appropriate risk assessments and safeguarding records now in place.
• Premises across all four sites are now "clean, tidy and well maintained," with effective systems for reporting and repairing health and safety defects.
• The proprietor "adequately promotes the well-being of pupils" through improved leadership systems and clear communication of safety expectations.
• Pupils receive suitable information on personal safety, including "healthy relationships, including consent," and online safety risks.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure the curriculum "encourages respect for other people, paying particular regard to the protected characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010."
• The proprietor must fulfil statutory responsibilities to actively promote these protected characteristics, as the current decision not to do so means standards are not met consistently.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements, including the single central record and policy availability, meet the requirements of the independent school standards, and that the school now effectively promotes pupil welfare and safety.
