Vishnitz Girls School

Overview

Vishnitz Girls School is an independent day school where pupils are described as polite, welcoming, and keen to act as role models. While the quality of education and behaviour are rated as good, the overall effectiveness requires improvement due to shortcomings in personal development, leadership, and early years provision. The report states that the school does not meet the independent school standards.

Strengths

• Pupils are "polite and welcoming" and feel "cared for in school because everyone looks out for each other."
• The curriculum is "well-organised" with carefully ordered content, allowing pupils to "reinforce their understanding and build on their prior learning."
• Staff subject knowledge is typically strong, helping pupils to "produce high-quality work."
• Early reading and phonics have improved significantly, with children using phonics "confidently in their reading and spelling."
• Leaders have "robust systems to check attendance rates" and support families promptly.

Areas to improve

• Leaders must implement planned training to address instances where "pupils’ errors and misunderstanding persist" due to less secure staff subject knowledge.
• Reception children lack routine access to early years resources; leaders must urgently re-organise spaces to enable learning across "all areas of learning."
• The PSHE and relationships and sex education (RSE) programmes do not cover all required statutory content or pay due regard to all protected characteristics.

Safeguarding

The report states that "the arrangements for safeguarding are effective."
