Overview: The school does not meet all of the independent school standards that were checked during this inspection. Despite some progress in addressing previous weaknesses, the school still has unmet standards in parts 1 and 2 of the independent school standards.

Strengths:

• The school has taken action to improve the curriculum in most subjects, including the early years.
• The school has ensured that pupils experience linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social, physical and aesthetic and creative education.
• The school has supported staff to develop their understanding of curriculum content and the subject matter being taught.
• The school has provided a framework for staff to check what pupils know and can do.
• The school has a suitable safeguarding policy that takes into account statutory guidance.

Areas to improve:

• The school does not have sufficient oversight of the quality of education or the requirements for relationships and sex education (RSE) and health education.
• The curriculums in technological and aesthetic and creative education lack precision in identifying the knowledge and skills that pupils should acquire.
• The curriculum for PSHE education and RSE and health education does not include all of the statutory requirements.
• Staff do not have adequate curriculum guidance and support to know precisely what to teach and the order of learning in curriculums that are less clearly defined.
• The school has not ensured that children have sufficient opportunities to learn and reach a good standard in English language during their time in the early years.

Safeguarding: The school has a suitable safeguarding policy that takes into account statutory guidance, and staff have the training they need to identify pupils who may be at risk of harm.
