Talmud Torah Yetev Lev

Overview

Pupils feel “happy, safe and secure” and enjoy attending school, with early years provision rated as Good. However, the overall effectiveness requires improvement due to weaknesses in curriculum design and delivery, particularly for older pupils. The report highlights that while behaviour is good, pupils’ personal development and readiness for life in British society are hindered by limited understanding of difference.

Strengths

• Early years provision is Good, with children making a “strong start” and settling in quickly.
• Behaviour and attitudes are Good; pupils are “attentive in lessons” and treat each other with kindness.
• Reading is a priority, with most pupils reading well by the time they leave, supported by effective phonics and extra help.
• Staff have “secure subject knowledge” and provide extra support, including explanations in pupils’ home languages.
• Safeguarding arrangements are effective, and the school meets all independent school standards.

Areas to improve

• The curriculum for Year 7 lacks clarity, preventing staff from ensuring pupils learn necessary knowledge for the next stage of education.
• Staff require better guidance and training to deliver the curriculum consistently and effectively across all subjects.
• Personal development is underdeveloped, particularly regarding other faiths and cultures, limiting pupils’ preparation for modern Britain.

Safeguarding

The report states that “the arrangements for safeguarding are effective.”
