Bligh Primary School (Infants)

Overview

Bligh Primary School (Infants) is described as a place of "safety, celebration and opportunity" where strong relationships with parents ensure children flourish. The school maintains high expectations, resulting in a "calm, happy and orderly environment" where pupils are "Ready, Respectful and Safe."

Strengths

• The curriculum is "ambitious and well-ordered," with staff benefiting from "high-quality training" that ensures consistent delivery.
• Early years provision is outstanding, with "careful and regular checks" on knowledge and expert support for early reading.
• Personal development is outstanding, with pupils demonstrating the school’s ‘HEART’ values and developing independence from the start.
• Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) have their needs "quickly and accurately identified" and learning is carefully adapted.
• Staff workload and well-being are considered, with leaders ensuring improvement priorities are "appropriate and manageable."

Areas to improve

• In subjects other than English and mathematics, the school lacks an "accurate understanding of the key knowledge pupils have retained," which hampers teachers’ ability to build on learning. The school should support staff in "systematically checking pupils’ acquisition of key knowledge over time."

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
