• Personal development is “exceptional,” with initiatives like ‘learning characters’ and forest school fostering resilience, respect, and independence.
• Reading is “at the heart of the curriculum,” with expertly delivered phonics and effective initiatives ensuring pupils read with fluency and comprehension.
• Staff provide tailored support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, ensuring they access the planned curriculum.
• Leaders ensure an “ambitious curriculum” with careful tracking of progress and strong consistency across the federation.

Areas to improve

• Teachers’ subject knowledge and pedagogical choices are “not consistently strong across the foundation subjects.”
• Teachers do not always plan activities that ensure pupils transfer knowledge into their long-term memory, meaning pupils do not necessarily recall what they have learned in these specific subjects.
