Cippenham Village Nursery School

Overview

Cippenham Nursery School provides a high-quality early years education where children are "well prepared for the next stage of their education." The inspection found that leaders maintain a "precise understanding of the school’s effectiveness" and foster an inclusive culture where wellbeing and family support are central.

Strengths

• Children develop "early reading, writing and mathematical skills securely" and apply this knowledge independently in play.
• The curriculum is "ambitious" and "rich," offering diverse experiences such as forest school, carpentry, and gardening that build resilience and curiosity.
• Inclusion is "at the centre of its work," with "sensitive, targeted support" ensuring all children, including those with special educational needs, access the full curriculum.
• Attendance is monitored with "rigour," and leaders act quickly to remove barriers, resulting in children who "attend well and settle confidently."
• Staff interactions are "warm and purposeful," helping children develop "confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing."

Areas to improve

• Leaders should "sustain the high‑quality provision already in place and continue to deepen the consistent approaches established across the school."

Safeguarding

The safeguarding standards are met, with leaders establishing "an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone's responsibility" and concerns are actively managed.
