Dromintee Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action where teachers did not co-operate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure... the quality of education being provided” and could not evaluate key areas such as curriculum quality or teaching effectiveness. Despite these limitations, the report notes positive feedback from parents and staff regarding the school’s ethos and leadership.

Strengths

• Parents reported “very high levels of satisfaction” with the school, citing “mutual respect” and a “supportive learning environment”.
• Staff highlighted an “inclusive, welcoming, pastoral ethos” and “very good working relationships amongst the staff”.
• Children observed demonstrated “very high levels of fluency and expression” when reading and engaged enthusiastically in discussions.
• The school’s “child-centred ethos” is underpinned by its motto, promoting “learning, love and enjoyment”.
• Governors are described as “clearly child-centred” with a “very good range of complementary skills and expertise”.

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement, as the ETI was “unable to evaluate” the quality of provision, leadership, and learner outcomes due to the lack of co-operation.

Safeguarding

The school provided evidence that “satisfactory arrangements for safeguarding reflect broadly the guidance issued by the relevant Departments,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
