St Oliver Plunkett's Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action where staff did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI was “unable to assure” parents of the quality of education provided. The report states that no performance levels are available for outcomes, provision, or leadership.

Strengths

• Children reported they “enjoy a wide range of additional learning opportunities” such as trips and competitions.
• Pupils feel their views are “listened to, valued and acted upon by staff.”
• Children have opportunities to develop leadership skills through roles like “digital, Eco- and School- Council leaders.”
• Safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• Children reported they “feel safe in school” and know what to do if they have safety concerns.

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no specific areas for improvement as the ETI was “unable to evaluate” outcomes, provision, and leadership due to non-cooperation.
• The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Safeguarding

The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements broadly reflect Department of Education guidance, and children feel safe, though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
