Enniskillen Model Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, with staff refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education and safeguarding being provided for the children.” The report states that no performance levels are available for any aspect of the school’s provision.

Strengths

• The report identifies no strengths, as the ETI was “unable to evaluate” outcomes, provision, or leadership due to the lack of cooperation.
• During a follow-up visit, children reported that they “feel safe and cared for in the school.”
• Children demonstrated knowledge of “what to do and who to talk to if they are concerned about their safety or well-being.”
• The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance issued by the relevant departments.”

Areas to improve

• The school must address the failure to provide evidence of satisfactory safeguarding arrangements during the initial inspection.
• The school needs to “review the security of the access arrangements to the school grounds.”
• The ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of education, meaning the school must demonstrate improvement in all areas at a future inspection.

Safeguarding

The ETI returned within six weeks and found that the school provided evidence of satisfactory arrangements, though it remained “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the ongoing industrial action.
