Fairview Primary School

Overview

The inspection occurred during industrial action, meaning the ETI was “unable to assure the quality of education” and could not fully evaluate outcomes, provision, or leadership. Despite this limitation, the report highlights positive feedback from parents and staff, alongside strong evidence of effective safeguarding and high-quality learning in the lessons observed.

Strengths

• Parents reported “high levels of satisfaction” with the “highly effective pastoral care” and “high quality learning environment.”
• Children demonstrated an “excellent disposition for reading” and a “very good understanding” of mathematics concepts.
• Lessons featured “interactive, investigative learning experiences” and “appropriately challenging learning opportunities” matched to individual needs.
• The school holds numerous accolades, including the “Primary Science Quality Mark Gold Award” and status as the “first Zero Waste School in Ireland.”
• Senior leadership and governors work in a “cohesive and collegial manner” with “regular and purposeful communication.”

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no specific areas for improvement, noting instead that the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully” key aspects of the school’s provision due to staff non-cooperation.

Safeguarding

The arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” with children speaking “confidently and maturely” about safety and reporting they feel “very happy and safe in school.”
