Strengths

• Governors, particularly the designated governor for child protection, “use effectively their collective experience and expertise to support the school in the arrangements for safeguarding children.”
• Year 6 pupils reported that they are “happy in school and know what to do if they have any concerns about their well-being.”
• The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure the designated governor for child protection “receives the appropriate training at the next available opportunity.”
• The ETI could not evaluate outcomes, provision, or leadership due to non-co-operation, meaning the school must address the lack of assurance regarding educational quality.

Safeguarding

The report notes that while arrangements broadly reflect Department guidance and children feel safe, the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding” due to the industrial action.
