Greenhaw Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers refused to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report concludes that the school is a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• The school holds a “green flag award as an Eco-School” and has received a “Level 2 Rights Respecting Schools Award.”
• Safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• Year 6 children reported that they “feel safe in school” and know what to do if they have concerns about their well-being.

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no specific areas for improvement because the ETI was “unable to evaluate” outcomes, provision, or leadership due to the lack of cooperation.
• The school must address the impact of the industrial action, which prevented the assessment of the quality of education.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the action short of strike.
