Holy Family Primary School

Overview

This inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI was “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report states that overall effectiveness and key performance areas could not be evaluated due to this lack of cooperation.

Strengths

• Year 6 children “develop their leadership skills through their roles as ‘digital leaders’ and as class representatives on the Eco- and School-councils.”
• The school has been awarded its “third ECO flag” and an “ICT Accreditation Mark” by the National Association of Advisers for Computer in Education.
• The school has “recently begun a shared education partnership with three local schools.”
• Children met by inspectors “report that they feel safe in the school and are aware of what to do if they have any concerns about their safety or welfare.”

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no specific areas for improvement because the ETI was “unable to evaluate” outcomes, provision, and leadership due to the strike action.
• The school is designated as a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”
• The Employing Authority and Department of Education are urged to consider the “current poor condition of the building” to ensure health and safety.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
