Humberston Park School

Overview

Humberston Park School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The report describes a setting where pupils are "happy and safe," supported by a "highly skilled staff team" who demonstrate an "astute understanding of the individual needs of pupils." The school continues to provide a high-quality, inclusive education tailored to pupils with complex needs.

Strengths

• The curriculum is "designed coherently" across three learner journeys, with learning broken into "very small steps so that all pupils regularly experience success."
• Staff have "high expectations" and use precise assessment to ensure support meets each pupil’s needs, particularly in mathematics and communication.
• Behaviour is "excellent," with staff experts in noticing "subtle changes to pupils’ behaviour" and using a "calm, caring approach."
• Pupils develop essential life skills and independence through enrichment activities, including cooking, swimming, and community enterprise projects.
• Leaders are "passionate about the school" and provide high-quality training, resulting in staff who are "proud to work at Humberston Park."

Areas to improve

• The school should ensure its new approach to monitoring behaviour is "implemented consistently" and used to "inform precise support," as not all incidents are currently captured or analysed effectively.
