Overview:

Pupils enjoy school a great deal, with positive attitudes and a keen desire to learn. They achieve well in their studies and value the way the school helps them to be good citizens. The school has made some important improvements since the last inspection, including a revamped relationships and sex education programme.

Strengths:

• Pupils enjoy school and have positive attitudes towards learning.
• The school has a strong focus on early reading and mathematics, with phonics taught from the start.
• The early years provision is highly ambitious and coherent, building up children's knowledge and skills across all areas of learning.
• Pupils' behaviour is particularly strong, with a calm and respectful culture.
• The school develops pupils' personal and emotional learning well, teaching them how to keep themselves safe and promote care for others.

Areas to improve:

• The curriculum for some foundation subjects in Years 1 to 6 is not sequenced carefully enough, leading to instances where pupils do not consistently build and connect their knowledge and understanding over time.
