This sustaining improvement inspection was significantly constrained by industrial action, with nearly all teachers refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) could not evaluate the quality of learning and teaching or assure stakeholders of the education provided. The school is designated as a high priority for future inspection with no further notice.

• Year 6 pupils spoke "very positively about their experiences in school."
• Children highlighted "many opportunities they have to engage in activities beyond the classroom."
• Pupils expressed enjoyment of "learning through practical activities and group work."
• Children spoke of their "appreciation of the kind and supportive staff in the school."

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate "the lines of inquiry" or "the quality of learning and teaching within the classrooms" due to non-cooperation.
• The inspectorate could not assess the school’s capacity for improvement through self-evaluation or effective school planning.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance issued by the Department of Education" and that children feel safe, but the ETI was "unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding in the school" owing to the industrial action.
