The inspection was conducted during industrial action, with staff refusing to co-operate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Governors demonstrated a “long standing commitment to the school” and “strong links between the school and the local community.”
• Year 6 pupils reported enjoyment of “topic work,” the “school council,” and participation in after-school clubs.
• Children stated they “feel safe in school” and know “what to do and who to talk to if they are concerned about their safety or well-being.”
• The school provided evidence that “satisfactory arrangements for safeguarding learners reflect broadly the guidance issued by the relevant Departments.”

Areas to improve

• The report notes that “consultation on, drafting and implementation of a relationship and sexuality education policy” is underway but needs to be completed.
• The lack of suitable hall space “impacts negatively on aspects of the educational provision,” including limited facilities for indoor physical activities and whole-school meetings.

Safeguarding

The report states that while satisfactory arrangements were evidenced, the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding in the school” due to the industrial action.
