Overview

The report describes a school where pupils receive a "warm welcome" and benefit from "cheerful voices" and trusting relationships with adults. Leaders have successfully improved the curriculum to be "meaningful and enjoyable," resulting in high attendance and positive behaviour. The inspection confirms that the school has moved on from its previous "Requires improvement" rating, with all key judgement areas now rated as "Good".

Strengths

• There is a "strong focus on teaching pupils important words," which supports language development from early years through to confident speaking in older pupils.
• Phonics is taught "consistently well," with careful assessments ensuring extra help is provided for those who need it.
• Pupils demonstrate "positive attitudes to their learning" in calm, orderly lessons, and staff provide appropriate support for those finding behaviour difficult.
• Governors "support and challenge the work of school leaders effectively," and the school benefits from strong links with a local middle school.

Areas to improve

• Staff must "adapt the curriculum effectively" for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) so they can achieve the same learning outcomes as their classmates.
• The school must ensure pupils understand "fundamental British values" and the "diverse cultures in modern Britain" to better prepare them for life in modern society.
